Cheryl & Andy: Full Wedding Highlights- Riviera Maya, Mexico
Boy am I excited about this one. EX-CITED.
Filming my sister’s wedding was so much harder than a normal wedding for many reasons. How do you help a bride get ready for her big day and also capture it on film? How do you possibly take in the excitement that comes with a family wedding while also trying to catch every moment for them to keep afterwards? How do you record messages from both the Bride and Groom when your job is to help the bride do her makeup and put on her dress? (ANSWER: it involves sprinting back and forth between hotel rooms in 90 degree heat, creating some pretty amazing armpit stains on your bridesmaid dress, only to be discovered later when you see the official wedding pictures. AWESOME.)
Needless to say there were lots of difficult questions to grapple with, but I couldn’t be happier with what we got out of it 🙂 Many, many thanks to the amazing Liz & Ryan of Elizabeth Ryan Photography. Not only were they able to capture amazing photographs for Cheryl & Andy, they also gave me the gift of being able to stand next to my sister as her Maid of Honor. While unusual for me to use pictures in a wedding film, I certainly enjoy what it’s able to add, and I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of the ceremony.
My first destination wedding, I would highly recommend them to anyone debating what kind of wedding they’re looking for. Cheryl and Andy spent an amazing week in paradise with their family and closest friends, and boy did they have a great time! The resort (the beautiful El Dorado Royale) took care of all the small details, so all they had to worry about was spending time with their friends, competing in poolside games, dominating the beach volleyball court, and which of the 13 restaurants to eat at for every meal. I tell you what, if this isn’t a dream wedding I don’t know what is!
Editing this video was almost as much fun as filming it (almost), as I got to relive a week full of fun* and love. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit I was definitely that girl sitting in a coffee shop in Roanoke crying as I edited. I could not be happier to see my twin sister so happy, and when you watch this video I hope you can see it too. This video is to many, many years of continued laughter and smiles, and anniversary celebrations every year that involve the El Dorado Royale. Attendance required of all original wedding guests.
Congratulations Cheryl & Andy, and I hope you all enjoy this full highlight film as much as I do!
