ShearFun Hair Salon: Wake Forest, NC
Growing up in Pennsylvania, we were lucky enough to have some incredible neighbors surrounding our house. This collection of families led to long nights in the summer of hide-and-go-seek, our very own ‘news shows’ produced on my back deck, hours upon hours in our hot-tub during the cold winter months, and much more.
Lucy was one of those neighbors, also a hairdresser, and I’ve trusted my hair to her since I was 5 years old. She gave me my first perm, my first official color, and hundreds of haircuts since. Lucky for me, right about when I moved down to North Carolina for Teach For America, she moved down to Wake Forest. I drove two hours each way to get my hair cut by her all three years of teaching in rural North Carolina, and now she’s opened her own shop! I still travel 45 minutes each way to have her cut my hair, and those times when I think the drive isn’t worth it and decided to find someplace closer, within a week I end up back in her salon having her fix whatever they did wrong. Apparently other salons don’t know what I mean when I show them a picture and say I want the ‘Lucy Cut’…
So when she asked me to film a short promo film for ShearFun Hair Salon, I couldn’t have been more willing to say YES! A week later I got to spend a Saturday with her and the crew, and am pretty pumped about the result. If you live in North Carolina and are in need of someone who truly knows hair, this one’s for you 🙂
