Katie & Ben: Durham, NC Videographer

I can’t exactly pinpoint why, but in the last several months I’ve been contacted by a lot of brides who have self-described their weddings as fairly ‘non-traditional’.  I’m wondering if there’s something about my website that says I would appreciate this (I do!), or if there’s just more couples out there who aren’t interested in doing things the way they’ve always been done just because they’ve always been done that way.

Whichever it is, I’m excited about the trend!  While I’m a sucker for a good old-fashioned wedding, I LOVE when couples choose things that truly represent who they are as individuals, and as a couple.

Several weeks ago I was lucky enough to film one of the best examples of this yet.  Katie & Ben met as schoolteachers at a local Durham high-school, and are anything but the traditional couple.  He teachers Outdoor Ed. and likes rock-climbing in his spare time, while she trains in aerial silks (and is even going to school now to do it professionally!).  If there was any doubt that these would be a part of their wedding day, they quickly set the record straight.  Not only did I love filming this wedding, but I also really loved reliving it all while editing.

We can’t wait to tell your story 🙂

*Many thanks to Bridget Mcenaney for being such a pleasure to shoot with 🙂  You can check out her beautiful photography here!

I don’t know anyone in this video, but I have to say, it just makes me happy. What an awesome, non-traditional way to celebrate. (caught perfectly on film, I might add).

And the ending… oh, the ending. Really well done.
